Do you love hot chocolate? Setting up your own DIY holiday hot chocolate bar at home is so simple and festive!
There is something about hot chocolate on a cold day that is so comforting! Setting up a DIY holiday hot chocolate bar in your home for the holidays is so easy to do! My children love hot chocolate. After seeing so many beautiful hot chocolate bars on Pinterest and Instagram I decided we would have one of our own. It has been a HIT! It was super simple to put together and while it is not the fanciest it has been perfect for our family. You can make one too! We have decided after the holidays we will simply update the decorations to a winter theme to get us through the cold months ahead!
What you need to make a DIY holiday hot chocolate bar:
- Holiday mugs! We found the cutest Rae Dunn mugs at HomeGoods this season. They were perfect for our holiday hot chocolate bar. You could also use disposable cups that are holiday themed.
- Hot Chocolate Mix! Of course you could make your own which I have done in years past. This year we are loving the organic hot chocolate mix from Whole Foods. We buy a box and just put the packets at the bar. It is really good and honestly just as good if not better than the mixes I have made! Not to mention a time saver!
- Toppings! I used mason jars for the different toppings and wrapped them in red and white twine I found at Michael’s. We have used mini-marshmallows, toffee bits, chocolate chips and candy canes! Any glass dishes you have that you can seal would work. When the hot choclate bar is open we have added chocolate syrup and whipped topping.
- Decorations! This is the FUN part! Use your holiday serving trays, holiday napkins and any special touches you would like to add to make this hot chocolate bar a holiday hot chocolate bar! I found the fun felt garland at HomeGoods! The mini Christmas trees came from the dollar section of Target. You can find hot chocolate signs most anywhere these days! My signs came from Hobby Lobby. My daughter is quite the artist and made the hot chocolate bar sign for me! I love it and am not sure I will be able to erase it!
This is all you need for a perfect holiday hot chocolate bar!
Where to put your DIY holiday hot chocolate bar:
If you have limited counter space consider a tiered tray! You can contain all of the above in two or three trays and move it around as needed! Our butler’s pantry is the perfect space for our hot chocolate bar. This space now has a purpose this holiday versus being a catch all for anything and everything we need to move out of our way! The kids are loving it and we are too! I have had more hot chocolate in the last month than I have in years! Yummy!
