Love decorating for Halloween? Take my Not So Spooky Halloween Home Tour and be inspired!
Join me for my not so spooky Halloween home tour! Halloween is finally here and I am excited to share with you how we have decorated this year! I love decorating for the seasons! In September, I add Fall/Harvest decor throughout the house. When October 1st rolls around the kids remind me it is time to get our Halloween bins out and unpacked!
This year we had some fun new additions to our decor both inside and out. Decorating for Halloween does not have to be expensive! You can get most decor on sale like I do the previous year 50% off or more. I like to add a few new things here or there each year. Having a little bit of Halloween in every room is my goal so no matter where you might glance you will see something not so spooky! I hope you find inspiration for decorating your home! Enjoy my Halloween home tour!
Welcome Home!
The not so spooky Halloween home tour begins outside! For years and years I had saved a picture from a home magazine of these three skeletons helping one another to get to the top of the roof. Last year my husband took the picture and made it look just so for me! This year was no different. We love our not so spooky skeletons! This year I handed my husband yet another picture…this time of giant spiders on the front of the house in various locations. He said ok – do you have the spiders?! Well as a matter of fact I DID! Five of them to be exact! He hung them up for me and I could not be happier with how they turned out!
Come on in!
Our entry way is very open. As soon as you enter you are greeted by a number of spiders! Looking into the living and dining rooms you will see more Halloween decor. I found these spiders at Target. They are an inexpensive way to make a big impact and they are super easy to hang. My kids love being surprised by finding them in various places around the house.
Piano Room
This time of year it’s not unusual to hear Halloween tunes in the music room! In years past I have covered the piano and lanterns with spider webs. This year I liked this netting I found at Target. A little more substantial and a lot easier to put up/take down! Plus I can easily reuse next year. I still threw some spiders on the netting! I like to add skulls to the lanterns for a not so spooky touch! The spiders, skulls and crows are from The Dollar Tree! Don’t discount the dollar store for your Halloween decorating! They always have so many items that you can supplement your other decorations!
My favorite ‘BOO’ letters on the piano are from a wonderful Etsy shop called YondeeCelebrations! This shop owner is so talented and has many choices not only for Halloween but other holidays as well. Be sure to check her shop for holiday decor you won’t find anywhere else!
Dining Room
This is one of my favorite rooms to decorate each season! I think it is because we don’t use this room every day of the week so it’s the one room in the house that stays just as I want it to for at least five days a week. I add to my fall decor in this room with not so spooky touches! A lot of my decor in the dining room is from Hobby Lobby, Kirklands, Michaels and The Dollar Tree. My runner is a purchase from Mud Pie a few years ago. I love this shop for unique holiday decor. My favorite new Halloween items this year are the Rae Dunn dishes from Home Goods along with our wizard gnome! The kids have loved their dinnerware this month.
Breakfast Room & Kitchen
I love decorating our two tiered tray for the holidays! The kids help me find not so spooky decor to add to the trays. I love adding the Rae Dunn finds from Home Goods too! Halloween place mats are a must!
Family Room
The gathering room! This is where we all crash at the end of our day to snuggle on the couch and watch not so spooky Halloween movies. This is where most of the not so spooky decor can be found! I love our new additions of the Halloween gnomes and bats this year. Do you see the mice? Those are from the Dollar Tree! I see them every year so check for some to add to your decor next year. I love Halloween signs! Over the years special friends have gifted many of them as hostess gifts. I add them to our book shelves and really anywhere I can squeeze them! My favorite not so spooky decor item in the family room is the mantel scarf. It is so much fun and a great statement piece. I purchased this last year on sale from Grandin Road.
Screen Porch
For the first time this year we have added Harvest/Halloween decor to the porch. Generally the porch is ‘closed’ till Spring but this year we bought some outdoor heaters from Wayfair and decided we would continue to enjoy the porch until it really is just too cold. What a great idea! We have enjoyed so man extra days and evenings out here! We added some pumpkins, gourds, more skulls and a spider on the porch!
Happy Halloween!
